If you've been following me on Instagram (and you should - find my profile HERE) you might have seen my photos from Barcelona last week and I wanted to share some of my top picks for a spring city break.

The after the stress of dissertation behind me my family and I escaped the grey April showers of the UK for sun, sleep and sangria in beautiful Barcelona! My favourite thing about this trip was the beautiful terrace in the apartment we stayed in, situated just off the Ramblas we loved having a little sun trap of our own in the middle of the madness of the central Barcelona streets.

One of my must sees is the Placa Reial which is a square just off the central Ramblas, head here for amazing food and some of the best street entertainers.

Comfy Sandals
When you're in somewhere as beautiful as Barcelona, obviously exploring absolutely necessary, and with the UK being so grey and gloomy I was desperate to paint my toes and throw the closed toes shoes to the back of the cupboard. All of this taken into consideration my top priority for a city break is a comfy pair of sandals, there are so many amazing styles on the high street at the minute. From pom poms, to platforms there are so many to choose from, I like to stick to classic colours that I can pair with multiple outfits, which makes minimising packing for a city break even easier. I ended up picking out these slide on tan sandals from Next the day before my trip and they were actually the only shoes I wore the entire 6 days! Super comfy leather with an easy to wear design meant my feet didn't hurt, even after walking for hours. When spring comes around I love introducing more colour into my wardrobe and tan becomes my new black.
Leather Weekend Bag
With so many airlines now charging for check-in luggage, being able to maximise your hand luggage is essential. These leather luggage pieces from MAHI are perfect for a weekend getaway, durable material and tonnes of storage room. Most airlines will allow a carry-on bag and a handbag which is perfect for keeping all your essential items together. MAHI leather luggage is made in the UK and a percentage of each sale is donated to a clean water charity, keeping fashion sustainable is something I think we all need to be more aware of. You can learn more about why leather bags are the best HERE.

Moisturiser with SPF
Especially after having very limited sun exposure over the winter months it's very important to protect your skin with an SPF, the temptation can be to try and tan as quickly as possible if you're not away for long but the kinder option for your skin is always a little fake tan or buildable bronzer if you're looking for that summer glow. My favourite way to protect my skin is to make sure my daily moisturiser has an SPF included, I find that when my skin is hydrated I have so much more of a glow and top tip any natural tan you do pick up will last longer if your skin is well hydrated.

So I hoped you enjoyed a couple photos from my holiday and my must have city break essentials!
Hoping to post again soon,
