University - where to start

It's getting to that time of year again when we all start looking for universities ready to apply this Autumn. I remember applying for my place almost 2 years ago and I can still remember the stress of it all. Luckily for you I'm going to be sharing with you over this application season all my top tips and tricks to making the application as easy as possible. Starting today with step 1.

So deciding you want to go to university is a huge step on its own and you should feel excited by all that's about to happen. Next thing to do is to look at 3 things, your currently qualifications, your predicted grades and your interests. There are literally hundreds of different courses and you're bound to find one that suits you, if not you can also choose two with dual honours! By now you've probably been studying some kind of higher education already so you might have an idea what you want to do! If so that's great, if you're really stuck and don't know what you want to study then my best piece of advice is to pick up a prospectus and just read through it, look at what's on offer and go with what interests you. Once you've picked a course go to the UCAS website and from here you can get a full list of all the universities that do your course.

Honestly from here it's up to you, I personally went through the list and crossed off any that didn't interest me and then ordered tonnes of prospectus from the ones I liked. I'd really recommend going to as many open days as you can. Starting the process off is the hardest part but once you've got going you'll soon learn what you want and then it makes things easier.

If you're applying to university this year and want any help/advice with anything feel free to get in touch by email or twitter! @interndiaries, I'd be more than happy to help.
